Editorial Policy

The rules we follow when we research, write and update coverage of dealers and equipment.

Construction Fleet Journal publishes coverage that readers can check. Every factual statement in a dealer article is tied to a source the reader can open, and every statement that originates with a dealer is labeled as the dealer's claim. This page sets out how we work.

Sourcing

Dealer coverage is built from the dealer's own public website and inventory pages, read on a date that is stated in the article. We record inventory categories, makes, models, hours, prices, published specifications, business address, telephone number and hours of operation only where the dealer clearly publishes them.

Where we quote a specific listing, we link to the listing page so that readers can see the current version. Equipment background in our market guides draws on manufacturer specifications and on widely accepted industry practice for inspecting and transporting machinery.

Verification and labeling

We distinguish three kinds of statements:

  • Observed facts. What we could read directly on the dealer's site: the number of listings, the categories, the makes, the figures shown on each listing. We report these as of the snapshot date.
  • Dealer claims. Statements the dealer makes about its own process, such as inspection or documentation practices. We quote or paraphrase these and attribute them to the dealer. We do not present them as independently verified.
  • Editorial analysis. Our own reading of what the inventory suggests and what a buyer should check. It is labeled as perspective, not fact.

What we do not publish

We do not invent or infer customer experiences, reviews, ratings, rankings, inspection results, warranties, sales volumes, certifications, ownership history, awards, buyer endorsements or completed transactions. If a dealer publishes a warranty or protection plan on a specific listing, we may report it as the dealer's statement with a link. We do not use star ratings or testimonials in any form.

We do not invent staff, editorial credentials, physical offices, contact addresses or operating history for this publication. Pages that describe Construction Fleet Journal say only what is true of it.

Relationships and disclosure

Construction Fleet Journal is not paid by, owned by or affiliated with the dealers it covers, and it accepts no payment or other consideration for a dealer spotlight. If that ever changes for a specific article, a note on that article will say so. Dealer spotlights are informational coverage based on published materials; they are not inspections, ratings or endorsements.

Photography

Photographs are published under licenses that permit commercial use and are credited to the photographer. Images are illustrative of the equipment categories discussed. We do not present stock photography as pictures of a specific dealer's yard or inventory, and we use a dealer's own photographs only with permission. Alt text describes what is actually in the frame. See the photography credits.

Corrections and updates

Inventory, specifications and prices change. Articles carry the date on which the dealer's site was read, and figures should be understood as of that date. When we learn that a statement was wrong at the time of publication, we correct it on the page and note the correction. Requests for corrections can be made through the contact page.
